The Whole Life Doula Program

Whole Life Doula - /hōl/ /līf/ /do͞olə/ Noun

A trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client through any stage of transition, including birth, grieving, major life change, and death.

Train to be a Whole Life Doula! All of our courses including Pilgrim SoULL (Level 1), and Working with Human Nature (Level 2) and Becoming a Whole Life Doula (Level 3), are a part of this comprehensive program.

This innovative training has created a new holistic paradigm, using what birth and death doulas have learned over time and expanding it into a support system for all of life’s transitions.

Becoming a Whole Life Doula means learning companioning. In this ancient model of care traditionally performed by women, we support others as ordinary humans, not as medical authorities outside the realm of relatability.

The Whole Life Doula Program explores unique theories of relationships and communities as they are connected to Nature, the body and our human development. These theories support leaders in other fields, including medicine and social justice, and those trying to envision a more vital, sustainable future for humanity.

The Whole Life Doula Program is a 400 hour training program in the following phases:

LEVEL ONE - PILGRIM SOULL (110 hours): Theory

The Nature of Being Human

The Nature of Relationships

The Nature of Community

In Unit One, students are introduced to a language of human life that includes growth, aging and dying as we do a somatically-oriented overview of human development. Students learn to see spiritual, energetic and physical experience as deeply connected through the human life span and beyond.

LEVEL TWO - WORKING WITH HUMAN NATURE (150 hours): Applying to Self

Working with Human Nature

In this unit, students explore the movements of their own life force, exploring personal history, the larger arc of their own development, the role of community and the greater movement of life and calling within them. Students apply the teachings of SoULL while being inspired and supported by the work of their cohort, forming a group and studying the dynamics of “tribe” as we go.

LEVEL THREE - BECOMING A WHOLE LIFE DOULA (150 hours): Applying to the Service of Others

Becoming a Whole Life Doula

In the final training unit, we will train students to be worthy companions and guides for people in all kinds of life transitions between birth and death, holding compassionate presence with a somatic perspective and awareness of whole life processes.
