Ritual Passing of the Mantle

The SoULL teachings are built upon a deep, embodied awareness that endings and beginnings are united. We often teach that death is not the end of life but rather, a crucial part of it. In fact, we have learned that when we allow things to end, we bring more vitality into our lives, our relationships, and our collective bodies.

Now is one of those moments to put our theory into practice.

We humbly and proudly ask you to join us, on one on the last days of the year, to mark an ending and beginning at SoULL. Founder Jeanne Denney will transfer her role as Director to Nandita Batheja and LiZhen Wang, who will receive the mantle as Co-Directors.

Together, we will cast our intentions upon the river. (Image description: many lanterns floating down a river during New Year’s in Thailand.)

In this ritual, we will have a chance to graduate and thank Jeanne and bless her as she embarks upon a period of rest and creative expansion. Don’t worry — Jeanne isn't going anywhere. She will be still be offering her visionary guidance, but now as a mentor.

Then we will acknowledge LiZhen and Nandita as they complete their training process and fully step into Co-Directorship. For both, these roles feel less like a job, and more like a calling. With your community witnessing, they will be able to answer this call with more support, courage, and accountability.

Finally, this ritual is for everyone. We know we are all upon a transition point as we close one year and begin another. In this ritual, we will gather our energies and light a candle for the intentions we all hold at this time.

Birth, death, and all transitions are meant to be community affairs. The ancestors did it this way, through all of time, everywhere.

Please join us for this one. Your presence really does make a difference.
