Living Eulogy & Session
Living Eulogy & Session
This consists of an approximately one hour deep listening session, and a written distillation of the way Life has moved in you up until this point in time.
Hello fellow Earthlings! I am Rebecca Schillenback. My beloved spouse and I live with our two teenagers in the Finger Lakes area of New York State, in a place where the Cayuga Lake Watershed meets the Susquehannah watershed, a place where the first nations people from the south and the north would also meet along the waterways. My sons are 15 and 17, in their freshman and senior years of high school. It is a weighty privilege to be their mother.
I make my living currently as a hospice chaplain, and in the past have been a farmworker, a home health aide, a preschool teacher, and a celebrant of weddings and funerals. I am a recorded Quaker minister in the New York Yearly Meeting and one Friend in a group who are bringing regular ministry to my monthly meeting community of faith and practice. I believe in mistakes, compost, photosynthesis, flowers, seeds, soil, and the presence of the Sacred in all beings. I love to grow potatoes, garlic, celery, onions, black beans, and tomatoes to store up for winter. Winter is my favorite season. It moves at the speed of my soul. Our woodstove is a member of the family. Lately I am working on my fear of the dark, with night time cross country skiing in the woods, and cold water dips in Cayuga Lake. I'm also learning how to quilt, how to cane chairs, and how to play 'Silent Night' on the harmonica. My neighbor and I serve as elders for the Congregation for Sacramental Healing, a free church dedicated to the proposition that all created matter is evidence of divine embodiment, which we can access and be present with through the sacramental use of entheogens.
I offer 'living eulogies' for those in moments of life transition or undergoing rites of passage. Perhaps you are approaching a significant birthday. Or perhaps you have been given a sobering diagnosis, definitively limiting your future, or your future cognitive capacity. To craft your living eulogy, I will guide you through some reflections on the life you have lived to this moment, and use your reflections to craft the story of your life up until now. It will be my honor to hear and tell your story.
To receive this gift, please donate at the $200 level on our fundraiser. Rebecca has donated one session. Gifts available while quantities last.
